Nosara What to do.
Local Tours
Nosara has a lot to enjoy. Contact us for advice or to book any tour below.
Canopy (Zipline)
Soar over the jungle on one of the country’s highest and longest lines. You’ll get a true bird’s-eye view of paradise. Moreover, professional guides keep it safe and fun.
Kayaking
Glide along the calm waters of the Río Nosara. The mangroves are full of life, so you’ll spot birds and other wildlife. In addition, the pace is relaxing and great for all levels.
Turtle Tour (Ostional)
See a once-in-a-lifetime event at the Ostional National Wildlife Refuge. Olive Ridley sea turtles nest in massive “arribadas,” and hatchings follow about 40 days later. Because dates vary, we’ll help you time it right with a guided visit.
Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP)
Choose ocean or river routes with experienced guides. You’ll enjoy smooth sections, and, when conditions allow, a little challenge. As a result, both beginners and regular paddlers have a great time.
Surf Lessons (All Levels)
Nosara’s consistent waves make learning easier. Whether you’re a first-timer or advanced, schools offer group or private lessons. Plus, friendly coaches focus on safety and progress.
Sibu Sanctuary Visit
Tour a rescue center that rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife for release. During the two-hour visit, you’ll also learn how to protect habitats. Even better, your ticket supports the mission.
Bio Reserve Tour
Walk with a guide through a private reserve on the Río Nosara. You’ll explore 35 hectares (90 acres) of protected jungle, mangroves, and unique plants. Furthermore, the river mouth views are stunning.
Horseback Riding
Ride with trained guides—perfect for experienced riders or first-timers. Sunset beach rides are a favorite. Besides, Nosara’s long ranch tradition makes this a classic Costa Rican experience.
Volunteer
Make “the Nosara way” part of your trip. Give back, meet locals, and create meaningful memories. Contact us for details or introductions.
Plant a Tree (BarriGuiones / Costas Verdes)
Help reforest beaches inside the Ostional Refuge—over 4,000 trees planted so far. You can adopt a tree, join planting days, and learn from the team. For more information, visit costasverdes.org.
Support Recycling (Waste & Recycling Association)
Back modern, sustainable waste management for Nosara and nearby towns. The group runs education programs and a local recycling center. To get involved or donate, see nosararecycles.com.
Take the Nosara Challenge (Community Action)
Join a simple call to action on Facebook. Post a short video of yourself doing something positive—big or small—and then nominate three friends. This way, we spread awareness and inspire change across the community.
Sibu Sanctuary (Volunteer & Donate)
Beyond tours, you can volunteer, donate, or buy a calendar to support wildlife care. You’ll also learn how daily choices affect animals here. Learn more at nosarasibusanctuary.com.
Nosara Animal Care (Help Pets in Need)
Provide health care and new homes for vulnerable animals. The team rehabilitates injured and homeless pets and teaches humane care in schools. To make a difference, visit nosaraanimalcare.com.
